CHAPTER TEN

ANNA WASN’T SURE what she’d expected, but being with Ben was more intoxicating, more pleasurable, than anything she’d read in her books. Everything about him seemed to resonate inside her. Male versus female: the way he smelled, the feel of his warm, rough hands on her smoother, cooler skin, the sounds he made when she knew she had excited him, the way he sank into her body and captured her inside and out.

“Do whatever you want,” he’d said, and she’d taken him at his word. He’d only interrupted long enough to explore her breasts with his hands and his mouth, and to rock her against the hardest part of him until she thought she might burst into flames.

Only you can prevent forest fires.

Forget being safe, she wanted more.

Anna slid off Ben long enough to tug his briefs down. Helpful, as always, he kicked them off. Then she was astride him again, giving herself no chance to cool down or calm down. She wanted the entire experience, had a willing partner who made her tremble with every touch. Nothing could change her mind. Not the past, not the future, not even the moon.

Renewing the rocking motion that had created such titillating friction before now took Anna’s breath away. The hot, smooth length of him rubbing against the most sensitive part of her body, without any barriers, made her shiver with pleasure.

Ben pulled her down for a kiss then held her close. “Are you ready?” His voice was hoarse. “I don’t think I can stand this much longer. It’s making me—”

Anna’s mind was on the delicious feel of him, and the way her body quaked for more. More of what Ben could give her. “Yes, I—”

He shifted his hips at the sound of yes, and Anna arched away from his chest to take him inside. She felt him enter partway then stop. He seemed to freeze.

“Anna?” Her name sounded ragged in the chorus of night sounds.

She hadn’t known whether or not he would be able to tell. Obviously he could. Before he could say anything to derail her intent, she forced her hips downward. Pushing until, after a momentary pain, she felt completely filled and knew she was no longer a virgin.

Ben’s arms clamped around her and dragged her to his chest, holding them both motionless except for his panting breath and her pounding heart. She could still feel him inside her. Please don’t be angry. You said I could have what I wanted. This is what I wanted.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he said into her hair. His arms were so tight around her she couldn’t have answered if she’d wanted to.

When she didn’t answer, he tentatively moved his hips, causing a ripple of renewed heat inside her. “Are you in pain?”

“No,” she choked out.

“Do you want to stop?”

“No—please.” Anna rocked against him, needing anything, everything. She’d gotten part of what she’d wanted. Now she wanted the rest. A moan rose inside her. “Please don’t stop, Ben.”

Saying his name must have convinced him.
